Opera has a deep and colourful past and is a fascinating subject to study. As a result, we’ve researched some fun and interesting facts from the opera era in order to explore this wonderful history. Did you know Aida is the world’s 13th most performed opera? It was commissioned by Isma’il Pasha, Khedive (Viceroy) of Egypt and first performed at the Khedivial Opera House, Cairo in 1871. Giuseppe Verdi (the composer) was paid 150,000 francs for his composition.
